Marbella is home to some of Spain’s most famous beach clubs, kids’ attractions, designer shops, award-winning restaurants, championship golf courses and lively bars, all within easy reach of Villa Issabella.
Life's a beach
Home to some of the best beaches in Marbella, including the fabulous Golden Beach, Elviria is a magnet for sun-lovers and water-sports enthusiasts, with jet skiing, kite surfing and water skiing all available. World famous Nikki Beach Marbella at the Don Carlos hotel is within walking distance of Villa Issabella and offers a wide choice of amazing live entertainment and delicious food from April to October. Hire a sunbed and parasol, soak up the sun at one of the beach clubs or enjoy a stroll along the sand, stopping off for refreshments along the way. With temperatures reaching 40°C in summer, don’t forget your sun cream! Cabopino beach, just a five minute drive east of Elviria is also one of the best in the area.
Super local eateries
Why not try the Beach House, Elviria for a spot of fine dining on the sand or pop along to Nu Fluid for a cocktail or two before dinner. Elviria offers a wide choice of tapas bars, delis, restaurants, cafes and takeaways to suit all tastes. Whether you fancy a five course dinner, a tasty snack, a traditional Spanish meal, a takeaway chicken or sumptuous Indian or Thai cuisine, you will find it all within walking distance of luxury Villa Issabella, Marbella. Fish and seafood lovers should eat in one of the many chiringuitos (beach bars) dotted along the sand for a delicious choice of paella, squid, sea bass and local delicacies, all washed down with a jug or two of sangria!
Shop til you drop
Local supermarkets, just a two minute drive from Villa Issabella include Supersol and Opencor, where you will find a wide choice of fresh meat, cheese, fish and groceries, newspapers, toiletries, wines, beers and household goods. Just a 5 minute drive down the road are Lidl and Mercadona. If designer shopping is more your ‘thing’ take a trip to Marbella or Puerto Banus (10-15 minutes’ drive) for a wide choice of boutiques and high-end labels. La Canada Shopping Centre is just a ten minute drive away and is home to over 150 shops, restaurants, supermarkets and a cinema complex with films in English. If you want to bag a bargain, Nueva Andalucia Market, just above Puerto Banus is also worth a nose and opens from 9am-2pm on Saturday.
For the sporty types
Also known as the ‘Costa del Golf’ the Marbella area is home to some of the best golf clubs in Spain. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned professional, you will a course to suit you. Water sports enthusiasts are also well catered for on most beaches along the coast. Dolphin trips are available from nearby Cabopino. Adventure pursuits including mountain biking, safari buggy tours and off-road quad bike trips into the hills above Marbella. Snow sports can be enjoyed in the Sierra Nevada, during winter, which is just a two-hour drive away. Tennis fans are also well catered for and the excellent Royal Tennis Club at El Rosario, Marbella is just a five minute drive from Villa Issabella.
If the kids are happy...
A wealth of great things to see and do in Elviria and Marbella keep kids of all ages entertained for hours on end. If you can drag yourselves away from the pool or the beach, why not visit Aquamijas waterpark, just a 20 minute drive away near Fuengirola. This famous park offers a wide choice of ‘adrenalin-rush’ rides plus an area for the younger children. Amazonia Aventura in Elviria, within walking distance of Villa Issabella, boasts over 70 attractions including jumps, rope bridges, zip lines and ladders straddling the high trees. Great fun for adults and kids, and full safety briefings are given by experts before the fun starts. Great fun for water-lovers is canyoning in the beautiful region of Benahavis just 20 minutes from Marbella.
