Celebrate the end of lockdown with a luxury family villa holiday in Marbella, Spain

Nothing makes us appreciate family more than a crisis. With families being kept apart by lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus, there is no better time to start planning a luxury family holiday in Marbella, Spain.

Just a two-hour flight from London, the Costa del Sol is expected to see a spike in bookings as soon as the borders are open and flights resume from the UK and northern Europe. Now is a great time to be making enquiries with hosts of luxurious holiday villas in Marbella, to make sure you are not left disappointed.

Imagine a fabulous holiday with all the family you have not been able to see for a few months. An infinity pool, award-winning restaurants, blue-flag beaches and more sunshine than you could shake a stick at. One thing’s for sure – Marbella will be just the same as before – glitzy, sunny, fun and glamorous. Everything you could possibly want from a family holiday – and the perfect place for a celebration, corporate event or wedding.

Luxury Marbella event villas offer every upmarket facility, including infinity pools, designer interiors, ample living space, sunbathing decks and much more, but if you can drag yourself away from your accommodation you will find a wealth of fabulous things to do in and around Marbella.

Take a trip inland to Ronda, just a 60-minute drive from Marbella and one of southern Spain’s most famous white towns. Soak up the atmosphere, the history and gaze out over the 100m deep gorge which is the town’s most stunning landmark. Sample the tapas at a typical ‘bodega’ – the cured hams, meats and cheeses are delicious - or sip a gin & tonic on a shady terrace in the old town.

Gibraltar is very much the ‘marmite’ of places to visit within easy reach of the Costa del Sol. Love it or hate it, there is no denying the Rock’s intriguing history, and its great importance to the British, especially during WW2. Go tax-free shopping, eat fish and chips in the marina or venture up to the top of the Rock to meet the Barbary Apes, originally from the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. Coupled with a dolphin trip, the Gibraltar tour is well worth booking.

Seville can be reached by car in two hours from Marbella and is probably Spain’s most passionate city. Think flamenco, tapas, and music, combined with some of the most beautiful historic buildings in Europe – religious or not, the Cathedral, which houses the tomb of Christopher Columbus is well worth a visit. And don’t forget to take a horse and carriage ride for the best and most romantic view of this amazing and vibrant city.

If you prefer to stay closer to your luxury event villa in Marbella, you will find a wealth of things to see and do. Soak up the sun on one of 25 beaches in the area, trip the light fantastic in Puerto Banus, charter a boat for the day or eat seafood & drink sangria at one of the many superb beach bars dotted along the coast.
